Ebook Readers and PDF's?
I'm thinking about getting an ebook reader (Sony PRS/Kindle/whatever). This would mostly be to have a concenient format for journal papers, so I don't have to lug them about in A4.
How does an ebook reader handle the formating of PDF's (journal pdf's are usually formated for a page size larger than the reader). Is it a definite "second best".
Does anyone have any advice (from "forget it, stick to paper" to "make sure you by the geekbook 1.3")?
I have an Amazon Kindle and I've put a few pdf's on it. I'd say the results were mixed at best. Because the pdf pages have very fixed formatting (headers, footers, page numbers, page width) and the Kindle doesn't follow the same formatting, those elements tend to get in the way more often than not. It's kind of distracting. I'd say it's better than carrying around the paper copies, but not by a lot.
