will ebook readers work in india?
I guess the question should be rephrased as follows:
(1)Will it work in India with wireless connection from Indian carrier and not AT&T
(2)Are there Indian books available in ebook formats?
There are three most popular ebook readers in the market right now, including the Barnes and Noble Nook, the Sony Reader, and the Amazon Kindle.
The Barnes and Noble Nook is only available inside the USA, and is quite buggy and slow response. Between the Sony Reader and the Amazon Kindle, I've given a detailed review between them here, guess it'll help you decide which one to get:

The Kindle also comes with free wireless access to Wikipedia in India. You can click the link inside the box "Live Outside the U.S.?" in the link below, choose "India" then you'll know how it is supported at your country. You can check it from time to time and there is sometimes improvement of support in different countries:
